7 Instant Mood Changers

October 19, 2011 by Julette Leave a Comment

Hello there,

Despite all great intentions, we (being human) stumble; moods change, joy fades and blues try to blossom.

Some people are triggered by negative thoughts and memories, others by the weather and some permit other people to invade their peace.

Whatever the cause, here are seven instant mood changers…try making a habit out of at least one of these and watch how the wheels of optimism will turn at will. Your will.

Here they are: (tried true and powerful!) Oh – did I mention that these will only work at their highest and best if you have a desire to feel better…and this could be just a glimmer of a desire. If you’re trying to stay where you are because it’s working for you on some level, these tips will work to a far lesser degree.

  1. CHANGE your body position. If you’re sitting, stand and stretch; if you’re standing, walk briskly for 2 minutes.  By doing this you are sending a signal to your brain that you are ready for some positive sensations to race through your body. Get the blood flowing and oxygen circulating. (Dancing for a few minutes is magical)
  2. Say OUTLOUD ► “I WANT TO FEEL BETTER” and “I AM TRYING RIGHT NOW, TO BE IN A BETTER SPACE.” Say these affirmations as many times as needed until you detect a change in your state.
  3. VISUALIZE and then do, if at all possible a kind deed for someone.
  4. LAUGH – remember the last time you laughed out loud for at least 30 seconds? Recall what was so funny and laugh again.
  5. Think of  3 things you are grateful for. Think about why you are so grateful. GRATITUDE is powerful!
  6. Set a LIMIT on the funk. Agree to be disagreeable. If you can spare the time, decide on exactly how much longer you will mope and honor the time limit. At the end of, say 5 minutes, SNAP OUT OF IT.  🙂
  7. Clear, organize or tidy an area of your space. Pick a space or a piece of a project where a difference can be made in how things look, in a short period of time. Assign 5 – 10 minutes (or more is you have it) and hum a tune as you organize your way to a better state. ♫♫♫

So which one of these will be your new best habit?  A negative thought, a bad state or a funky feeling will always be possible as long as we remain human. So I say have a plan, create habits that will help you to rebound fast and clean.
