How to end a journey – Day 21 of 21-DD

December 28, 2010 by Julette Leave a Comment

Hello,

So today is the last day of our 21-day detox challenge and you have to end it right people! 🙂

Here’s how to end a journey:

With JOY…for having done it. For completing it and taking it on in the first place.

With GRATITUDE…When you return home from a fabulous vacation, aren’t you grateful for being able to be on that vacation and also for being able to come back home?  Same here for the detox.  Be grateful you said “yes” and for now being able to look back for the lessons learned.

With REFLECTION… End this journey with a look back so you can move forward armed with useful and powerful information about your areas of strength and areas needing more attention.

With FORGIVENESS…As you look back, keep the joy, be grateful and FORGIVE yourself for all that didn’t go as planned or desired. What other choice is there? Holding on to disappointment and self-bashing? That would be a total waste of time.  The detox was not intended to be a perfect 21 days of perfect action. It was intended to stretch you and challenge you beyond your comfort zone so you can grow. It was intended to provide insights and feedback about where work might be needed in your daily routines and habits and choices.

It did what it was supposed to do but only if you get what you are supposed to get from it. And that’s only possible if you look for the lessons and FORGIVE yourself for all ‘mis-takes.’

With LOVE…love for yourself, for the process and for others. As you reflect and forgive, remember that loving you with all your wonderful idiosyncrasies is essential. You end a journey with compassion and love.  Anything less and you will find it hard to get all the wonderful lessons and insights. It’s through the lens of love that we get the most out of life. Love allows us to shed light on darker corners where gems are hidden. Through love we see the truth and we see it compassionately. Love allows us to bring our creative forces to bear on any situation. So end this detox challenge with a loving spirit towards the entire process including your own actions and those of others.

With CELEBRATION… find a way to celebrate today.  Symbolically is as powerful, if not more so than physically. Celebrate completion and commitment, growing and loving life enough to want to live it at your highest and best.

Find a way to say “you did GREAT _________.”

Remember, the intention was not for perfection in daily activities. It was for remaining in the game, and playing to the best of your ability, at that time. You did that.  You may disagree and that’s OK. Your personal accountability will move you forward but don’t allow it to hold you back with undue recriminations and guilt.

Celebrate today. We’ll spend a few days in the LEARNING phase to be sure you move forward with the best possible information.

But for today, celebrate.

I wish you all that is good and wonderful.

Peace, Light & Love,

Julette Millien
