How to Change 10 Negative Thoughts that Hold You Back

Hello Friend!

I hope you are having a thoughtfully beautiful day!

One of the most popular articles I’ve written is this one on the Top Ten Thoughts That Kill.

It is a very common concern and challenge we face: that is, our own negativity.

Putting love into action in your life each day, I bet, is a major conscious or perhaps, sub-conscious goal.  So I would imagine ridding  your self  of the thoughts that kill LOVE (or at least bringing under control) is very important to you.

To begin, reflect on your favorite phrases and thoughts you fall back on when your mind is just cruising in neutral.

What are your ‘go to’ comments you speak to yourself and others you love?

Now how do these thoughts impact your ability to give and share love?

How do they impact your loved ones?

Do they empower you to love your fellow human beings? How or how not?

Here are some negative thoughts to change:

  1. I am so not lovable
  2. I hate myself, I’m so stupid, I really am dumb, I am such a loser, etc, etc
  3. I can’t stand _______ (any person’s name or thing )
  4. I just don’t care
  5. That just doesn’t concern me – what happens where you don’t live
  6. I have enough to worry about already, I can’t care about anything more
  7. Loving people is just so (too) hard
  8. People always disappoint me so why bother trust them
  9. I will love you if _________
  10. Some things I will just never forgive are ________

► Spend 15 – 30 minutes in reflection on the questions above and take note of some of your answers

► Be aware and observe your own thoughts and favorite phrases throughout the day (jot them down where possible)

► Forgive yourself for having thoughts that kill love in your life…we all have to work on this!

► Replace negative ones – those that take away your power with positive ones that empower you with/to love

► Practice using your improved thoughts and phrases TODAY!

► Mental practice counts! So in your most relaxed state, allow your imagination to become vibrant and specific and for a set amount of time (5 – 15 minutes) — SEE yourself speaking empowering phrases and messages, to yourself and to others

► Reflect on and record some of the responses you receive after speaking powerfully and positively – both internal  ( your own self-talk) and external (from others) responses.
