Hello Friend,
Are you clear on what you are here to do?
“Here” – meaning here on earth. Do you have a vision of where you are headed with your life?
I am here to help others help others. (That’s not a typo) 🙂
I’m so excited about helping people live their best possible life by creating habits that help – help themselves, help others and help the world at large.! And since I know that getting there has everything to do with service to others, my mission here on earth is to help people help others more effectively and more powerfully.
If you are not yet clear exactly what you are here to do, you have much company as most people are in that camp. But it (why you are here) really is not as mysterious and complicated as many make it out to be.
Be still, listen, follow your inner smile and your passions, talents and purpose will most definitely reveal themselves. What we are here to do is often right in front our face… often, for much of our life.
If you have a general idea that you are here to have an impact and make a difference in the world that is a huge start…just follow where that leads you.
Either way these ‘7 tips-turn-action-steps’ will transform your life – if you allow them to. If you are receptive, they will take you to a higher level of living.
Disclaimer – my position on self-help:
This multi-billion dollar self-help industry of ours has my eyebrows raised. Perhaps we need to be guiding people away from their ongoing concern with “self” (yes, yes ,yes…I know we have to be right with self before we can help another – but there comes a point when we can take the spotlight away from ‘self’ and shift it elsewhere). We can get into action – getting involved in programs and initiatives that help our community and the world at large, even AS we ‘work on ourselves.”
With so much attention on inspiring, motivating and being positive, it is really a shame that we continue to have so much pain, injustice and mean spiritedness in our world. Perhaps we need to start focusing elsewhere — not on self but on others, not on “self-help” but on “help others.
*climbing off the soapbox now*
Here are 7 quick tips on being other-centered on a daily basis:
- Intention ►Go the bed with a thought to wake up eager to help the world be a better place
- Enthusiasm & Optimism ►Wake up with gratitude on your lips and a song of service in your heart
- Be still and visualize ► After your morning routine, sit still for 5 additional minutes, thinking of ways you can concretely help TODAY.. see yourself DOing and BEing helpful in specific ways
- Be Kind ►Do at least one act of kindness per day for someone you do not know
- Fall in love with TRUTH ►Go beyond the “news” and research a topic that is being reported on – in your community or another country. Get a few different sources and see if they all say the same things…research the differences. In other words get to the truth as best you can
- Give Back ►Get your family involved in a project in your community that is all about helping others and do it together
- Think Critically, Check your beliefs ►Don’t repeat your opinions/those you hear on TV or from friends unless you check their “facts.”
In helping others, we have to develop habits that help us to think independently and critically and get to the facts of situations and issues. Without this, we become part of the problem of the world, even as we “help.”
So, if you are excited about serving your purpose here on earth and helping others to do the same…let me hear from you.
Together we CAN be the change we need [to see] in our world.
You have a wonderful day! 🙂
Wishing you peace, love and joy,
