Dear Friend,
In talking about distance in Jamaica (where I lived for many years) and because of the circuitous pattern of the countryside roads, we often referred to “as the crow flies” as the fastest (but not possible – other than by helicopter) way to get from one point to another.
That path “as the crow flies” is generally, well… for crows, birds, bees and other feathered beings. Not us humans.
In life, we don’t go from one point to another “as the crow flies” — we move in our life like this road here in Norway… back and forth to go a short distance sometimes. We meander our way through life, going from one experience to another often without a road map. Plans are often made but then “life” happens. It happens in all the curves and turns we take on our way to our goals.
So, hold on, don’t despair – however life is flowing for you, if you are doing the best YOU can to move forward, you will. Just keep your vision sharp in your mind, prepare yourself for the trip and get back on that road of life EVERY time you falter or fall.
Accept and even be grateful for the turns and twists — they are proof of your living. And they actually help to get you to your highest and best self. Through the twists and turns our achievements become even more meaningful.
And you know what… as with this mountain here, if you were to go straight up “as the crow flies” the path would be so very steep, it may take even longer, and may be even harder! 🙂
Don’t ever give up. You are among the living so be grateful for twisting and turning your way through life.
Sending love, as always,
