My Mother, what an example!

December 10, 2012 by Julette Leave a Comment

Mamita, sliding (200′ twister slide) on the Family Cruise at 70 years young.

Dear Friend,

I recently posted this on Facebook, to encourage my friends to take action NOW on all things love and relationship.

In honor of my mom I urge you to connect with a loved one today…for a moment, a whisper of love, or a day of fun. The last day I spent with my Mamita was pure joy and it happened because I followed my spirit and did something very different and not on the ‘schedule’ — we laughed, ate, sang, laughed some more and visited newborns. Blissful I tell you. 🙂

A week later she had the first of 2 strokes and left us a month later.

Connect with your loved ones today. With much love… ~♥~

I received several direct messages from people who were grateful and pledged to take action immediately. Sometimes all a person needs is a little jolt; a slight push to go do what it is they know is right.

So I hope you do that today. Go spend time with someone you love.

Applying this more broadly, I want to URGE you to take action today on ANYTHING you deem important that is being put off. A few days ago, a friend lost her dog and birds and everything – materially, that she owned in a fire. Another family member is in the hospital fighting for her life after this horrific fire. One moment, life is this way – and we may even be in the midst of complaining and mumbling about it all, and the next it can be so very different. Putting things off  (that can be done today) for tomorrow or next month or next year is not wise living.

My Mom lived as fully as she could.  She was a little daredevil – she climbed falls at 69, (like the Dunns River Falls [600 feet]  in Jamaica) younger people wouldn’t even consider and had travel experiences most of her family never ever imagined  (to Israel, Rome, Latin and Central America) and, she experimented with all the latest health findings to eat and live as healthy as she could. THAT in itself was a great accomplishment as her contemporaries (older generation of West Indians) tended to stay with the diet they grew up with regardless or the impact on their health.  But not her. She was a vegetarian, juicing daily and working out until her death.

Dunns River Falls in Jamaica

She tried her best to take action and do the things she wanted to do which often required courage and a level of confidence she did not grow up with. She had to grow and stretch and I loved that she always tried her best to be her best possible self. She grew spiritually each and every day.

Her death shocked us all but as I shared in the post above, I am at peace  because we shared as much as we could for as long as we had. That day I decided to drive to Brooklyn and eat lunch with her, then take her to visit the two newborns in the family created memories for me that will be treasured forever.

Reach out to loved ones, start that course, take that trip, curl up with that book, call that friend, tickle that child, bake that cake, say you are sorry or accept that apology and for goodness sake, LIVE FULLY in this present moment. DO whatever it is your heart is pulling you to do TODAY.

Wishing you an abundance of peace, joy and love,

Julette Millien
