Hello Dear One,
I’ve been reflecting quite a bit on Humility…the power of it and the challenge of it. In our human state it is not an easy virtue.
Feelings, pride, ego, hurt and fear, these are constantly in our way and have to be put in their place, some daily. Being humble requires daily focus and commitment.
With it, we can truly live a life of profound impact. Without it, we are primarily about our self and perhaps our family.
With humility so much is right-sized. So much “offense” and actions intended to cause us hurt and pain can be allowed to just roll right off of us… creating space for compassion.
Thereby reserving energy and outrage for those issues in our world requiring bold action. Of which there are many.
For me, Jesus was the perfect example of potent humility. He is my example.
Then others have done their best in this regard…MLK, Mandela, Gandhi and later day Malcolm… and many others of course. It seems of the people we tend to look back on with reverence and respect, profound humility was a part of their character. Makes sense, as to be other-centered, one must be humble.
I want to be potently humble. A work in progress; A daily work.
Wishing you a Life of Potent Humility,
